Educate yourself
Too many people are unaware of this crime. Take time to learn more about human trafficking. It is a complex crime with many elements.
As you learn more about this horrific crime, you will begin to grasp the gravity of the situation and your heart will be moved to act. In the Resources section there are a number of excellent organizations that provide in depth information on human trafficking and how you can fight it.
Educate others
This is by far one of the most important things you can do in the fight against human trafficking.
Each of us has a responsibility to defend the vulnerable and oppressed. One of the simplest ways you can help fight human trafficking is to educate others. As the word spreads about this injustice more and more will take up the fight against human trafficking. It all starts with an individual.
Sign a petition
The simplest way to start is to sign a petition that calls on the government of Canada to continue to fight human trafficking here and abroad. Take copies of the petition to school and work and have classmates and coworkers sign it. Then mail it in to MP Joy Smith to have it officially presented in the House of Commons. Remember that all mail sent to Members of Parliament is free so no postage is required.
