On January 14, 2010, the Government of Canada announced it will match the generosity of Canadians in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti, up to a total of $50 million. These contributions will be made directly—donors need not contact the Government of Canada.
In order to avoid potential fraud, we urge you to check to see if your preferred charity is registeredbefore you give, and ask if the charity is receiving donations in response to the January 12 Haiti earthquake.
